Backyard Blooms
Backyard Blooms
It all started with the idea to grow sunflowers in our backyard for The Happy Mural Project that we started at the beginning of the year. The idea was to grow 300 dwarf sunflowers to hand out as we painted murals of giant sunflowers on the walls of St. Pete. A hand made planter box of sunflowers has now evolved into multiple plumeria trees, a trellis with luffa vines, a grapefruit tree, bottle palms, milkweed, donkeytail, creeping jennies and many other thirsty plants. Alyssa has found the beauty of the therapeutic act of outdoor gardening. These rudbeckia flowers ended up being a perfect addition to the ever-growing garden in our back yard. Inspiration struck and I found her painting these beauties just a day after they joined the blooming party. A piece like this is an amazing representation of not only Alyssa’s oils but also her green thumb that allows her immortalize her favorite aspects of life.
